Expression levels of integrin-related proteins(α2β and αvβ3)in cervical squamous cell carcinomas and their significance
Objective To detect expression levels of integrin-related proteins α2β and αvβ3 in cervical squamous cell carcinomas and to illustrate their significance in disease progression. Methods Tissue paraffin specimens surgically resected from 68 patients with cervical squamous cell carcinomas hospitalized from November 2017 to October 2018 were collected as observation group.During the same period,52 normal cervical specimens surgically collected from patients with myoma of uterus undergoing hysterectomy in Handan First Hospital were collected in the control group.Expression levels of integrin-related proteins α2β and αvβ3 were detected by immunohistochemistry. The correlation of the biological behavior of cervical squamous cell carcinomas with the expression levels of α2β and αvβ3 in cervical squamous cell carcinomas was analyzed. In addition, the correlation between α2β combined with αvβ3 and clinical stage and lymph node metastasis of cervical cancer was identified. Results The positive expression rates of integrin α2β and αvβ3 in the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).There were significant differences in the expression levels of integrin-related proteins(α2β and αvβ3)in cervical squamous cell carcinomas with different histological classification, clinical stage, lymph node metastasis and infiltration depth(P<0.05),but no significant difference in tumor size(P>0.05).The positive expression rate of α2β combined with that of αvβ3 was positively correlated with clinical stage and lymph node metastasis of cervical cancer(r=0.941 and 0.931,P<0.05).Conclusion The expression levels of integrin-associated protein α2β and αvβ3 are abnormally elevated in cervical squamous cell carcinoma tissues, which may play a role in the occurrence and development. At the same time,integrin-related proteins are closely related to clinical stage and lymph node metastasis of cervical squamous cell carcinoma, and they can be used as predictor sof local invasion and distant metastasis of cervical squamous cell carcinomas.
