Objective To explore the effect of 5S health education management model on oral health behavior and knowledge awareness rate in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods One hundred T2DM patients admitted to our hospital from September 2021 to September 2022 were randomly divided into a control group(n=50)and an observation group(n=50),in which they were intervened by routine health education method and 5S health education management model, respectively. The intervention effects, oral health behavior and knowledge awareness rate were compared. Results After intervention, oral health behavior in the both groups was significantly better(P<0.05),which was notably better in the observation group compared with the control group(P<0.05).The oral health knowledge awareness rate in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(92.00%[46/50]vs 70.00%[35/50],P<0.05).After intervention, the cognition scores of oral care, disease hazard, and precautions in the both groups were significantly higher(P<0.05),the increase in the observation group was more common than the control group(P<0.05).The scores of reasonable diet, maintaining oral hygiene, regular oral examination in the both groups were significantly higher(P<0.05),which were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).The nurse-patient relationship trust degree in the both groups was significantly higher(P<0.05),which was significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).The Oral Health Impact Profile-14(OHIP-14)score in the both groups was significantly lower(P<0.05),the decrease in the treatment group was more prevalent compared with the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion For T2DM patients,5S health education management model has a significant effect, which is helpful for patients to protect their oral cavity.
