Clinical effects of external application of mirabilite and rhubarb combined with complete decongestive therapy in lower limb lymphedema after cervical cancer radical surgery
Objective To explore the clinical effects of external application of mirabilite and rhubarb combined with complete decongestive therapy(CDT)in lower limb lymphedema(LLL)after cervical cancer radical surgery, thus providing a reference for clinical nursing. Methods This was a prospective randomized controlled study including 80 patients with LLL after cervical cancer radical surgery visited our hospital from May 2022 to May 2023 were recruited in the present study, they were randomly assigned to the control group(n=40)and the experimental group(n=40).All patients were managed by routine care+CDT of international standard, and those in the experimental group were additionally given external application of mirabilite and rhubarb. After 4 weeks of therapy, the changes in lymph edema staging, lower limb circumference, and quality of life between two groups were compared. Results After 4 weeks of treatment, the experimental group had significantly alleviated lymphedema staging, shorter thigh and calf circumferences compared to the control group(P<0.05).Before treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in the quality of life scores between groups(P>0.05).After 4 weeks of treatment,The dimension scores and total scores of physiological status,social/family status, emotional status, functional status, and quality of life were significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The external application of mirabilite and rhubarb combined with CDT can effectively alleviate LLL after cervical cancer radical surgery, and improve the patients'quality of life.
