Study on the application of family participation in the nutrition and exercise comprehensive management program to elderly diabetic patients with myopathy
Objective To study the effect of family participation in the nutrition and exercise comprehensive management on elderly diabetic patients with myopathy. Methods One hundred elderly diabetic patients with myopathy admitted to our hospital from July 2020 to June 2023 were enrolled in the study. They were randomly assigned into the observation group(n=50)and control group(n=50)by a random number table.Rehabilitation management was performed in both groups, while a family participation in the nutrition and exercise comprehensive management program was additionally given to patients of the observation group.Glucose and lipid metabolism indicators, nutritional indicators, grip strength, limb skeletal muscle mass, and physical fitness of two groups were compared. Results There were no significant differences in the levels of glucose and lipid metabolism indicators between the two groups before intervention(P>0.05).After intervention, fasting plasma glucose(FPG),2-h postprandial blood glucose(2hPG),hemoglobin A1C(HbA1c),homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance(HOMA-IR),tropomyosin-receptor kinase fused gene(TFG),total cholesterol(TC),and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C)in both groups significantly decreased, which were significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group.High-density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-C)significantly increased in both groups, which was significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the levels of nutritional indicators between the two groups before intervention(P>0.05).After intervention, serum albumin and transferrin significantly increased in both groups, which were significantly higher in the observation group than the control group. The nutritional score significantly decreased in both groups, which was significantly lower in the observation group than the control group(P<0.05).Before the intervention, there were no significant differences in grip strength, walking speed, and skeletal muscle mass between the two groups(P>0.05),and they were significantly enhanced after the intervention, especially in the observation group(P<0.05).Conclusion The family participation in the nutrition and exercise comprehensive management program can improve the muscle strength, muscle strength and exercise ability of elderly diabetic patients with myopathy, and it can also improve the glucose and lipid metabolism and nutritional status of patients.
