Effects of a holistic intervention on improving quality of life and reducing complications in children with congenital heart disease after interventional therapy
Objective To study the effects of a holistic intervention on improving quality of life and reducing complications in children with congenital heart disease(CHD)after interventional therapy. Methods A total of 102 children with CHD who received interventional therapy in our hospital from June 2021 to May 2022 were selected. They were randomly assigned into control group(51 cases, routine intervention)and experimental group(51 cases, holistic intervention plus routine intervention). The recovery status, postoperative FLACC scale(Face,Legs,Activity,Cry,Consolability),36-Item Short-Form Survey(SF-36),complication rate and family satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results The resolution time of chest distress, resolution time of breath shortness and the length of stay in the experimental group was were significantly shorter than those of the control group(P<0.05).After intervention, the FLACC score of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).After intervention, the scores of SF-36 in the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of complications in the experimental group was significantly lower than that of control group(3.92%vs 17.65%,P<0.05).The scores of professional skill, care level, family participation and access to information in the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Holistic intervention can rapidly improve clinical symptoms of chest tightness and shortness of breath in children with CHD after interventional therapy, shorten the length of stay, effectively relieve body pain, improve the quality of life of children and family satisfaction, and reduce postoperative complications.
