Effect of an early pulmonary rehabilitation intervention based on self-determination theory on pulmonary function in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Objective To investigate the effect of an early pulmonary rehabilitation intervention based on self-determination theory on pulmonary function of patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD).Methods A total of 92 AECOPD patients were selected from August 2022 to August 2023.They were randomly assigned into the control group(46 cases, routine pulmonary rehabilitation intervention)and the observation group(46,early pulmonary rehabilitation intervention based on self-determination theory). The psychological needs, behaviors of rehabilitation, compliance of pulmonary rehabilitation, symptom relief and pulmonary function of the two groups were compared. Results In the observation group, the scores of the Psychological Need Satisfaction in Exercise Scale(PNSE)and Behavioral Regulation in Exercise Questionnaire-2(BREQ-2)after intervention were significantly higher than those of control group(P<0.05).In the observation group, the compliance of pulmonary rehabilitation was significantly higher than that of the control group(97.83%vs 84.78%,P<0.05).In the observation group, the scores of COPD Assessment Test(CAT)and modified Medical Research Council Dyspnea Questionnaire(mMRC)after intervention were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).In observation group, forced vital capacity(FVC),the percentage of 1s forced expiratory volume to the expected value(FEV1%pre)and 6min walking distance test(6MWD)after intervention were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of an early pulmonary rehabilitation intervention based on the self-determination theory in AECOPD patients can effectively improve their rehabilitation psychological needs and rehabilitation behaviors, enhance the compliance of pulmonary rehabilitation, promote the effective relief of symptoms, and further improve pulmonary function.
