Objective To investigate the psychological stress status in family members of end-stage primary liver cancer patients and its influencing factors. Methods This was a prospective study that included 104 primary caregivers of end-stage primary liver cancer patients from April 2021 to March 2023.The relative stress scale(RSS)was used to investigate the psychological stress status of the main caregivers. The baseline data of the main caregivers were recorded by a self-designed questionnaire. The influencing factors for the psychological stress status of the family members of patients with end-stage primary liver cancer were analyzed. Results A total of 104 questionnaires were distributed, and 104 valid questionnaires were collected, with an effective recovery rate of 100.00%.After evaluation, the RSS score of the primary caregivers for 104 end-stage primary liver cancer patients was 21.52±1.84 points, indicating a medium-to-high level. The RSS scores of primary caregivers who need to take care of other family members, with an annual family income of less than 100,000 yuan, low social support, and strong sense of stigma were significantly higher than those of counterparts(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the RSS scores among primary caregivers with other baseline characteristics(P>0.05).The multiple linear regression analysis showed that primary caregivers who need to take care of other family members, low annual family income, low social support, and strong sense of stigma were all influencing factors for the strong psychological stress of the family members of end-stage primary liver cancer patients(P<0.05).Conclusion The psychological stress of family members of end-stage primary liver cancer patients is generally at a moderate-to-high level, and influenced by primary caregivers who need to take care of other family members, low annual family income, low social support, and strong sense of stigma.
