Research progress on the interaction between trimethylamine N-oxide and the renin-angiotensin system in cardiovascular diseases
Cardiovascular diseases are a major type of public health problem that needs to be urgently prevented and solved in China. It is of great significance to clarify the key markers and targets in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.Trimethylamine N-oxide(TMAO)is a metabolite of gut bacteria, which is closely related to the occurrence and development of cardiovascular diseases. The renin-angiotensin system(RAS)is the most important fluid homeostasis regulation system in the human body that plays an important role in the process of cardiovascular diseases as well.Recent studies have linked TMAO to the RAS.The interaction between TMAO and RAS,and their involvement in the pathological process of cardiovascular diseases have been analyzed. In this review,we mainly summarized the research progress of the interaction between TMAO and RAS in cardiovascular diseases.
