Intervention effect of FOCUS-PDCA model in the management of stress injury in the elderly
Objective To explore the intervention effect of the Find,Organize,Clarify,Understand,Select-Plan,Do,Check,Act(FOCUS-PDCA)model in the management of stress injury in the elderly. Methods A total of 188 elderly patients with high risk of stress injury admitted to our hospital from January 2021 to June 2022 were included in the study. They were randomly assigned into the observation group(n=94,FOCUS-PDCA model)and control group(n=94,routine management mode). The aim was to compare the awareness rate of stress injury knowledge, incidence rate of stress injury, implementation of prevention and treatment measures, quality of life and nursing effect between the two groups. Results The awareness rate of stress injury in the observation group was significantly higher than that of control group of(96.81%vs 80.85%,P<0.05).The incidence of stress injury in the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group(4.26%vs 18.09%,P<0.05).The defect rates of records(4.26%vs 19.15%),implementation(7.45%vs 23.40%),and identification(5.32%vs 18.09%)for prevention and control measures in the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).The scores of quality of life in the two groups after intervention were significantly higher than those before intervention, and which were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).The scores of nursing effect(nursing records, nursing skills and nursing basic knowledge)in the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of FOCUS-PDCA model in the management of stress injury in the elderly can effectively improve the implementation of prevention and treatment measures, increased the awareness rate of knowledge, quality of life, and nursing effect, and reduce the incidence of stress injury in the patients.
