Osteosarcoma(OS)is the most common primary malignant bone tumor in children and adolescents, with high malignancy and poor prognosis.Traditional adjuvant therapy has encountered the bottleneck period due to its drug resistance and other problems.Ferroptosis is a new mode of cell death discovered in recent years, which is typically characterized by iron-dependent excessive accumulation of lipid peroxides.Ferroptosis has been confirmed closely related to the development of osteosarcoma(OS),which can inhibit the proliferation and metastasis of OS,induce cell death, and improve the survival and prognosis. At present, the relationship between ferroptosis and OS has mostly been studied from a single aspect, and there is a bias between the argument and clinical practice. This article summarized the main mechanisms of ferroptosis and its advancement in OS treatment, systematically categorized the relationship between ferroptosis and OS from a clinical perspective, and deliberated on ferroptosis in terms of inducing cell death, preventing metastasis, and reducing drug resistance of OS.Our study aimed to provide new concepts and approaches for the treatment of OS through ferroptosis.
