Effect of cold snare endoscopic mucosal resection on clinical indicators and complications in patients with colon polyps
Objective To explore the effectiveness of cold snare endoscopic mucosal resection(CS-EMR)in patients with colon polyps. Methods Totally 113 patients with colon polyps admitted to the hospital from January 2022 to January 2023 were assigned to receive either hot snare endoscopic mucosal resection(HS-EMR,control group,n=56)or CS-EMR(observation group,n=57).The 1-year follow-up after discharge was performed to compare operation time, average number of polyps, hospitalization time, clinical indicators(complete resection rate[CRR],polyp removal time, recovery rate[RR]),serum prostaglandin E2(PGE2),nerve growth factor(NGF),visual analogue scale(VAS),incidence of complications. The recurrence rate of polyps during the 1-year follow-up was assessed. Results The difference was not statistically significant in the operation time, average number of polyps, hospitalization time,CRR,RR between groups(P>0.05).After operation in awakening state, the observation group had significantly shorter polyp removal time, significantly lower PGE2,NGF and VAS than the control group(P<0.05).During operation, the observation group presented significantly lower total incidence of immediate and delayed hemorrhage than the control group(P<0.05).None of the recurrence rate of polyps differed significantly between groups during the 1-year follow-up(P>0.05).Conclusion CS-EMR can improve the CRR and shorten polyp removal time in patients with colon polyps. It is simple, with little postoperative pain and complications.
