LA-ICP-MS Zircon U-Pb Geochronology,Geochemistry, and Geological Significance of Granite in the Heyuan Area,Southern Belt of Nanling Region
Heyuan area located in the southern belt of the Nanling region,is an important area of granite-type ura-nium in China. In order to further evaluate the uranium ore-forming potential of granite in the Heyuan area,LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb geochronology and trace element geochemistry analysis were conducted on the main granite masses in Heyuan area. The diagenetic stages, rock types, and uranium production properties of the granite were studied. The results indicate that the ages of the Xinfengjiang granite,Baipu granite, and Wudouzu granite are(166.8±2.5)Ma,(150.3±2.5)Ma,and(144.4±0.9)Ma,corresponding to Middle Jurassic,Late Juras-sic,and Early Cretaceous. The granites in the Heyuan area are intracontinental orogenic granites formed under the background of lithospheric tension thinning. The type of rock genesis is highly differentiated I-type granite. The Xinfengjiang granite and Baipu granite are enriched in uranium. The Wudouzu granite with slightly lower degree of crystallization differentiation is relatively depleted in uranium.Based on the characteristics of later magma,tecton-ic,and hydrothermal activities within the granite,it is believed that the granite in the Heyuan area has superior u-ranium metallogenic conditions and significant uranium metallogenic potential.
