Comparative Analysis of Beidou Satellite Orbit Prediction Accuracy Based on TLE and YUMA Almanac
The satellite orbit prediction is a necessary condition for the ground station to effectively monitor and track the Beidou navigation satellite system(BDS)satellite. To determine the application of two-line orbit ele-ments(TLE)and YUMA almanacs for BDS satellite orbit prediction in different situations and their advantages and disadvantages, the TLE and YUMA almanacs are used to predict the BDS satellite orbits, and the BDS precise ephemeris published by the IGS data center(WHU)of Wuhan University is used as the reference data. The posi-tion prediction accuracy of BDS geostationary orbit(GEO),inclined geosynchronous orbit(IGSO)and medium earth orbit(MEO)satellites realized by the two prediction methods are compared and analyzed. The results show that both methods can maintain high accuracy in 24-hour short-term prediction. The short-term prediction accura-cy of TLE is better than 2.0 km,and the short-term prediction accuracy of the YUMA almanac is better than 9.0 km.In long-term prediction,TLE can maintain relatively stable orbit prediction accuracy, while the orbit error of the YUMA almanac will rapidly increase with time. The orbit prediction accuracy of the two methods for GEO sat-ellites is lower than that of IGSO satellites and MEO satellites.
