Chen Weisong's Ci Poetry Studies and the Development of Ci Artistic Characteristics
Chen Weisong was one of the few outstanding literary figures in the early Qing Dynasty,excel-ling in both Ci poetry composition and Ci literary theory.His Ci literary thought were an integral part of his Ci poetry,and served as the wellspring of his creative power.Chen Weisong broke away from the traditional ap-praoch of comparing Ci poetry to Shi poetry,and advocated for a Ci literary theory centered around"Viewing Ci Poetry as Classics and History".In terms of creative theory,Chen emphasized the techniques of"Jituo"(express-ing multiple meanings)to accommodate the polyphonic narue of Ci poetry,where the words carry both literal andmetaphorical meanings.He also set strict requirements for the creative subject,emphasizing the elements of"Thought""Spirit""Change"and"versatility".Regarding stylistic theory,Chen embraced both traditional and innovative forms,balancing the delicate and graceful with the bold and unrestrained.Beyond that,,he advocated for the transformation of the conventional"Yan"(glamboyant)style into a more refined and elegant aesthetic,while promoting the srtistic character of"Qing"(clarity).His ideas played a significant role in advancing the re-finement of Ci artistic style.
