The distribution and current situation of Sophora japonica L.germplasm resources in China were re-viewed,as well as the investigation and collection of resources in Shandong,Shanxi,Hebei,and Henan.The research progress on the evaluation of germplasm resources of S.japonica was summarized from three aspects:phenotype,cell and physiological biochemistry,and molecular level.Taking selection breeding,artificial hybrid pollination,and modern biotechnology breeding as examples,the innovative utilization of S.japonica germplasm resources was summarized,and the problems and development prospects in the work were analyzed.
