Influencing Factors and Mechanisms of Satisfaction with Rural Environmental Governance——Empirical Analysis Based on Survey Data from 1967 households in 8 Provinces
Rural environmental governance is an important social concerned issue.Studying the satisfaction of villagers with rural environmental governance is of great practical significance for establishing and improving long-term mechanism for rural environmental governance and comprehensively promoting the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy.Based on 1 967 samples from 157 villages in 8 provinces,an ordered logistic regression model was used to conduct in-depth research on the influencing factors and mechanisms of rural en-vironmental governance satisfaction.The results showed that:(1)constrained regulation,guided regulation,village governance efficiency,cadre work ability,in-dividual education level,and environmental awareness all had a significant positive impact on the satisfac-tion of rural environmental governance.(2)there was significant group heterogeneity in the impact of environmental regulations and moral education on the satisfaction of rural environmental governance.Con-strained regulations had a significant positive impact on the satisfaction of rural environmental governance among highly educated,high-income,or healthy vil-lagers.Guiding regulations had a significant positive impact on the satisfaction of healthy villagers with rural environmental governance.Moral education had a signif-icant positive impact on the satisfaction of rural environmental governance among low educated or low-income villagers.(3)guiding regulations had a positive moderating effect on the satisfaction of rural environmental gov-ernance in the context of restrictive regulations.The perception of village governance efficiency,the work ability of cadres,and environmental awareness all had a positive moderating effect on the impact of guiding regulations on the satisfaction of rural environmental governance.There was a mediating effect between the perceived effec-tiveness of village governance and the satisfaction of villagers in rural environmental governance.The counter-measures and suggestions to attach importance to the role of different types of environmental regulatory policies and their combinations in rural environmental governance,the role of moral standards in rural environmental governance,and to broaden the channels for selecting village cadres and participating in environmental gover-nance for villagers were proposed.
