Yield Performance of 10 Broomcorn Millet Varieties in 5 Ecological Regions in Northern China
In order to explore the yield performance of different broomcorn millet varieties in different ecological regions of northern China,10 varieties(except for Gumi 21,which is a non-waxy variety, and the others are waxy varieties)were selected as the research objects. From 2021 to 2022,they were planted in five test locations of Chifeng,Ordos,Datong,Huining and Shijiazhuang for two consecutive years. After the millet matured, the grain yield was measured, and the yield data were analyzed for significant differences and multiple factor analysis of variance. The results showed that year, location, variety, year × location, location × variety, year × location × variety all had a significant impact on the yield(P<0.01).Among the 5 locations, the yield of broomcorn millet planted in Chifeng and Ordos was relatively high.Among the 10 varieties, the yield of non-waxy variety Gumi 21 had the highest and stable yield, and the yield of waxy varieties,Jinshu 8,Jiushu 1 and Yixuanhuangmi had higher yield. The year, location, variety, and factors interaction have significant impacts on the yield of broomcorn millet. In actual production, selecting suitable varieties based on market demand and local ecological conditions is more conducive to achieving high yield. The research results can provide a certain theoretical basis for the selection of broomcorn millet varieties in production.
