Screening of Tomato Germplasm Resources with Low Temperature and Poor Light Tolerance and Breeding of New Varieties
In order to cope with the impact of low temperature and poor light on facility tomatoes in winter in North China, tomato inbred lines isolated from a single plant by the Institute of Cash Crops of Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences were used as experimental materials.Low temperature treatment was carried out during seed germination, and low temperature and poor light treatment was carried out during seedling peri-od.Seed germination rate was used during the germination period to screen 3 low temperature tolerant germplasm resources, and leaf antioxidant enzymes(POD,SOD and CAT)activities,MDA content, and chlorophyll content were used during the seedling period to screen 3 low temperature and poor light tolerant germplasm resources.Using the selected materials for combination,a new tomato variety Jifan 144 with low temperature and low light tolerance, disease resistance, and other characteristic traits suitable for planting in winter and spring solar greenhous and early spring plastic greenhous in Hebei Province was selected and bred.It is of infinite growth type. The fruit is flattened, with the single weight of 250 g,Vc content of 251.7 mg/kg(FW),titratable acid content of 0.56%,soluble sugar content of 30.90 mg/g,and soluble solids con-tent of 4.2%.Containing the leaf mold resistance gene Cf-5,wilt resistance gene I-2,and gray leaf spot resistance gene Sm,Jifan 144 is suitable for planting in winter and spring solar greenhous or ear-ly spring plastic greenhouse in Hebei.
