Breeding Strategy of High Yield and High Quality Wheat New Variety Jimai 713
Taigu nuclear sterile recurrent population had been taken as the basis and core of research by the Institute of Grain and Oil Crops of Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences,and the high yield and high quality wheat materials such as Jimai 22,Liangxing 99,Shannong 19,Shannong 20,Xinmai 26,Shiluan 02-1,and Qianyou 9618 have been added year by year by controlling pollination.Through repeated se-lection and outcrossing,the accumulation of excellent genes has been achieved.Through the use of conventional breeding methods combined with molecular markers,quality testing and other techniques,a new winter wheat variety Jimai 713 has been successfully bred for many years,which combines high yield and high quality.It can be inferred that high quality wheat breeding should closely integrate the selection of agronomic traits with quality testing.Jimai 713 has a growth period of 229.3 d,a plant height of 76.6 cm,a unit area of 726 mil-lion ears/hm2,an average of 35.5 grains per ear,and a thousand grain weight of 46.1 g.From 2019 to 2022,it participated in three consecutive years of regional and production tests in the irrigated land group of northern of the Huang-Huai in China.The yield was significantly higher than the control variety Jimai 22,and the qual-ity reached the national standard for medium to strong gluten.
