Digitalization of Manufacturing Industry Investment,Digital Trade Barriers, and Global Value Chain Division of Labor
In the era of digital economy, digitalization has become an important path for the high-quality development of manufacturing and the climb of the global value chain(GVC).This article uses sample data from 41 economies from 2007 to 2021 to explore the impact and underlying mechanism of digitalization of manufacturing inputs on the division of labor status of GVCs.Research has found that digitalization in manufacturing can promote the improvement of GVC's division of labor status through intermediate goods trade costs, production length, and technological innova-tion capabilities. However, digital trade barriers will have a negative impact on their promotion, and the higher the degree of digitalization, the stron-ger the inhibitory effect of digital trade barriers.Exploring the development level of different countries,it was found that the interaction between digi-talization of manufacturing and digital trade barriers has a significant negative impact on the division of labor status of GVCs in developed countries, while it has a significant positive impact on developing countries. This may be due to the fact that digital trade barriers and many domestic restric-tions force developing countries to improve their independent innovation capabilities and achieve GVC upgrading by bypassing barriers through merg-ers and acquisitions.
