Research Progress on the Screening Methods For Hydroxychloroquine Retinal Toxicity
Long-term excessive use of hydroxychloroquine(HCQ)can lead to retinal damage,a well-established ocular side effect that can cause severe and irreversible central vision loss in advanced stages. However, early lesions are usually asymptomatic and therefore difficult to detect. With the development of automated visual field and retinal technology, early lesions can be detected before significant visual impairment occurs. Therefore, sensitive and effective screening for early retinopathy is essential. This article will focus on reviewing the screening methods for retinal toxicity in HCQ in order to im-prove the understanding of retinal toxicity screening in HCQ.
