Abstract
Yang Xiong's Fanyan,containing a literary analysis of The Records of the Great Historian,shows the writing tendency of Sima Qian's admiration of remarkable personalities and adoration of historical figures'talent,and his humanistic care of with sympathy.This tendency toward"compassion and empathy"is reflected in many aspects,such as the diction,the storytelling,and character criticism in The Records of the Great Historian.These values are rooted in Sima Qian's fundamental values,regarding his view of talented people and that of the relationship between an emperor and his vassels,which indicates his deep emotional concerns and intellectual thinking.Han Xin,one of the three important ministers to lay the foundations of the early Han Dynasty,faces such a tragic end in stark contrast to his superior military prowess,which inspires so much"compassion and empathy"in Sima Qian,whose writing characteristics writing are vividly reflected in The Biography of the Marquis of Huaiyin.
