A Study on the Majestic Features of Calligraphy in the Tang Dynasty from the Guangzhong Tang Steles
Ancient steles are viewed as not only important cultural relics that preserve historical data,but also important carriers of calligraphy art.There are countless famous steles in Guangzhong,Shaanxi,such as The Stony Scripture of Filial Piety,The Confucius Temple Stele,The Huangpu Dan Stele by Ouyang Xun,The Great Tang Sutra Sectarianism Stele by the monk Huairen,The Meiyuan Shinquai Poem Preface in seal script,and The Huijianchan Monk Stele in running script,which not only accurately reproduce the development path of Chinese ancient scripts(seal,regular script,semicursive script,regular script and grass script),but also records the writing history and style evolution history of Chinese characters.Therefore,ancient steles have important significance and value for studying the calligraphy art of the Tang Dynasty in China.
