The Root,Influence and Response of the Prevailing Anti-Intellectualism in Contemporary America
The formation of anti-intellectualism has a relatively deep social and historical foundation and a special political foundation in the United States.On the surface,anti-intellectualism is anti-knowledge,anti-elite and anti-rationality.In essence,it is a combination of relevant politics and power strategies that ultimately serve the decision put forward by the political power holder or the political system it represents.Anti-intellectualism has become a prominent discourse system,which should be pursued intelligently in three aspects,namely,constructing a mechanism to realize knowledge freedom,re-recognizing the role differentiation between experts and political decision-makers,strengthening the public's understanding and trust in the knowledge of government and experts,and constantly improving citizens'scientific literacy and cultural education level.All this can provide theoretical reference for further optimizing policy quality and solving social problems by abandoning and denouncing the bad atmosphere of anti-intellectualism.
