A Study on the Poetry and Lyrics of Wind Instruments in Southern Tang and Western Shu
In the poetry and lyrics of wind instruments emerging in the most flourishing literature of Southern Tang and Western Shu in the Five Dynasties period,there are a total of nine musical instruments in Southern Tang and Western Shu poetry,including Jia,Flute,Xiao,Sheng,Jiao,Yue,Chi,Xun,and BiLi.By analyzing the works related to musical instruments in sequence,the finds go as the following:"Sheng"has obvious banquet characteristics,making it highly used in poetic works;Flute and Xiao have a certain degree of similarity,and arc performed everywhere;The use of homs emphasizes its border characteristics,as well as time reporting characteristics;Yue,Xun,and Chi have more characteristics of early primitive musical instruments,and are often used as to communicate with heaven and humanity with more solemnity;BiLi has a high pitched and sorrowful tone,and can be used as a score instrument.On the whole,the poetry and lyrics of wind instruments can reflect show the confusion and helplessness of the literati in the five dynasties,as well as the state of wanting to be liberated and unable to solve in the turbulent time.
