South Korea's Regional Strategy in Northeast Asia During Roh Moo-Hyun's Period:Focusing on Northeast Asian Equilibrium
Influenced by a globalized and interdependent international environment and Korea's unique domestic politics,Roh Moo-hyun administration put forward the Northeast Asia regional strategy and achieved better strategic effect, which made the relations between North and South Korea be in the best periods in history, some hot spots gradually be cooled down, and the regional situation in Northeast Asia be easing off. However,Yoon Seok-hyeol administration's policy in Northeast Asia has taken a major turn, including an overall strengthening of U.S.-Japan-South Korea cooperation and a toughening of its policy toward the DPRK and China, which has exacerbated tensions on the Korean Peninsula.Yoon Seok-yul administration should learn from the experience of the Roh Moo-hyun administration's strategy on Northeast Asia, clarify Korea's role in Northeast Asia in their diplomatic narrative and stabilize the security situation in Northeast Asia through dialogue and cooperation in order to avoid the exacerbation of security dilemmas.
