模糊性是语言的固有属性,是文学作品不可或缺的表达工具.最常见的模糊语言包括"模糊词义、模糊句义和模糊修辞"等类型.萨克雷在其小说《名利场》中使用了大量模糊语言以增强讽刺效果,这增加了翻译该文学作品的难度.撷取杨必先生翻译的萨克雷讽刺小说《名利场》中部分例句进行分析,发现译文通过"词义引申,句义补充、省略和调整,比喻和矛盾式修辞"等方法对"词义、句义和修辞"方面的模糊性问题作了精巧处理,最大程度地保留了《名利场》模糊语言的原意及讽刺意味.
Abstract
Fuzziness is an inherent property of language,as well as an indispensable expression tool for literary works.The most common types of fuzzy language include"lexical fuzziness,semantic fuzziness,and rhetorical fuzziness".In Vanity Fair,Thackeray uses a large amount of fuzzy language to enhance its satirical effects,which also increases the difficulty of translating this literary work.By extracting some examples from Mr.Yang Bi's translation of Thackeray's satirical novel,Vanity Fair,it is found that she skillfully translates the fuzzy"words,sentences,and rhetoric"with the employment of such translation methods as"lexical extension,semantic supplement,omission,adjustment,metaphor and oxymoron",and preserve to the greatest extent the original meaning and satirical effects of the fuzzy language in the original novel.
