Research on the Translator Behavior in the Process of Introducing Chinese Literary Works by German Sinologist Wolfgang Kubin
Utilizing the theory of translation behavior criticism,this research explores the characteristics of translation behavior in his translation of Chinese literature by Wolfgang Kubin,a German Sinologist.By analyzing his extra-translation behaviors(including the translator's competence,translation philosophy and reader awareness)and intra-translation behaviors(including prosody and rhythm,cultural connotations),the research delves into the dual linguistic and societal characteristics of his translation behavior.The research finds that Wolfgang Kubin's translation practice consistently maintains a reasonable balance on the"truth-seeking-utility-attaining"evaluative model of continuum,showcasing the blending of self-culture with other cultures,the unification of literary and social values,and the accommodation of personal preferences with reader expectations.Wolfgang Kubin endeavors to transmit the distinctive allure and cultural implication of Chinese literature through his translation works,and the acceptance and spread of his translations in the German-speaking realm,and amply illustrate his pivotal role in cross-cultural exchanges between China and Germany.
