Cultural Self-Confidence and Cultural Reconstruction:The Exchange and Integration of Eastern and Western Cultures——Taking the Inheritance and Development of Gargoyle Art as An Example
The gargoyle in southern Fujian architecture is a unique animal image that can ward off evil spirits.It has witnessed the evolution of architectural styles since the Qing Dynasty,and also reflects the integration of Eastern and Western architectural cultures.This study will deconstruct the shape of the gargoyle and redesign it using shape grammar methods to create cultural and creative products that conform to contemporary aesthetics.Then through the secondary creation of modern design techniques,unique cultural and creative products are formed.This study is dedicated to exploring effective ways to protect and innovate traditional patterns by redesigning the gargoyle shape.It is hopeful that the methods for innovative design of traditional culture can provide reference for designers.
