The Impact of Digital Economy on Population Concentration:Mechanism and Empirical Analysis
With the rapid development and application of digital technology,the digital economy has become an important force driving economic growth.Population urbanization,as the core phenomenon in the process of Chinese modernization,is increasingly closely integrated with the digital economy.This article explores the impact of digital economy development on population concentration,as well as the internal connection and transmission mechanism of coordinated development,and builds a panel data model of 26 provinces in 2011-2021.The positive analysis shows:the digital economy can significantly promote the improvement of the urbanization level;the rapid development of digital economy in China has accelerated the trend of population concentration to cities,and the robustness test conclusion of the regression model is still robust;population concentration has a positive impact on the development of the digital economy,and the increase in urbanization rate helps to promote the development of the digital economy;the regional heterogeneity test is divided into three major regions:the eastern,central,and western regions;the digital economy has a significant promoting effect on population concentration in all three regions.The digital economy can significantly promote regional population urbanization;the positive effect on the central region is the greatest,followed by the western region,and the eastern region is the smallest.
