ANALYSIS AND IMPROVEMENT OF EDGE CRACKING AFTER SLAB CONTINUOUS CASTING MACHINE SYSTEM TRANSFORMATION
After the transformation of the slab continuous casting machine,uneven vibration marks and edge cracks on the north and south sides of the casting slab occurred continuously,that seriously affected the normal production process and the control of product quality.Based on production data and production tracking,the problem of edge cracking in castings was analyzed from the aspects of process,equipment conditions and operation.The influence of production process and operation factors was eliminated,and it was finally determined that it was caused by the inappropriate position of the crystallizer vibration center.After adjusting the vibration center position of the crystallizer,the problem of edge cracking was significantly reduced,and the quality of the cast billet was improved.The incidence of edge cracking reduced from 10.5% to less than 0.5% .
