Influenced deeply by the Three Talents in Yiology,Three Levels in Characteristic of Chinese medicine was constructed,which categorizes the medicinal items and judges their efficacy and quality.The ultimate purpose of the three level-character theory is to manifest of the"birth"virtue in Yiology and to apply the nature of traditional Chinese medicine to nourish the body and dispel disea-ses.The classification of the three Levels in Characteristic of the Chinese medicine follows the model of"heaven,earth and man",the Three Talents.Specifically,the upper-level products of medicine follow the creation virtue of Qian heaven,the middle-level products of medicine follow the human initiative between the Qian and Kun,and the lower-level products of medicine follow the humble image of Kun earth.All of the above constructs the metaphysical way of herbal medicine and the views of curative effects and medicinal val-ues.The way of Three Talents and Three-levels in Characteristic of Chinese medicine products provide the ontology and methodology for the construction of the classification of the compendium of Chinese materia medica,the interpretation of pharmacology and medicinal properties,as well as the compounding method of Chinese materia medica in the later generations.
