Intellectual property rights protection and technological innovation are increasingly becoming decisive factors in the competition for comprehensive national power.This article uses the China Market Index Database,Chinese Customs Trade Database and Chinese Industrial Enterprise Database to study the impact of intellectual property rights protection on the quality of firms'export products.The results show that intellectual property rights protection can significantly improve the quality of firms'export products.After a series of robustness tests,the findings of this article remain significant.The article finds that the mechanism behind the effect is that intellectual property rights protection promotes local R&D input and human capital input,which improve firms'export product quality.Heterogeneity analysis shows that the impact of intellectual property rights protection on the improvement of firms'export product quality is more significant for non-state-owned firms,coastal city firms and resource processing industry firms.The findings of this article have important policy implications for the currentpolicy formulation of in-tellectual property rights protection in China,and for realizing the transformation of trade growth pat-tern and sustainable and healthy economic growth.
