With the changing global situation,the high-quality development mode of China's manufacturing industry has become one of the focu-ses of academic debates.The purpose of this article is to explore the impact of outward foreign direct investment(OFDI)activities on China's manufac-turing innovation.The findings show that OFDI reverse technology spillover plays a significant role in promoting Chinese manufacturing innovation.The heterogeneity test finds that there are regional differences in the impact of this reverse technology spillover on Chinese manufacturing innovation.In addition,depending on the degree of industrial agglomeration,when the manufacturing industry is highly agglomerated,the manufacturing enterprises in the province significantly improve the innovation level of the enterprises or even the whole industry through OFDI reverse technology spillover.The mechanism analysis shows that OFDI reverse tech-nology spillover has a positive impact on China's manufacturing innovation mainly through the way of absorbing and utilizing foreign advanced technology.This study not only expands and complements the research in the field of OFDI as well as manufactur-ing innovation in a useful way,but also has an im-portant reference value on how China's manufac-turing industry can realize high-quality development and regional balanced development in the future.
