Finite Element Analysis of the Residual Strength of High Steel Bending Pipe with Pitting Defects
Through taking pitting defects as the object of research, having finite element analysis method employed to establish the finite element model of the pipe with pitting defects was implemented, including further analyzing the influence of both location and geometric shape of the pitting defects and the pipe properties on the ultimate internal pressure of the pipe. The results show that, the relative position of the defects affects ultimate internal pressure of the pipe with pitting defects. When the defects stay at the inner arch of the pipe, the ultimate internal pressure of the pipe becomes smallest;the defect size also influences the ultimate internal pressure of the pipe with pitting defects and the ultimate internal pressure decreases with the increase of the pitting defect's depth and the increase of the pitting defect radius. In addition, the sensitive factors such as pipe size, pipe bending radius and pipe properties also have an impact on the limit internal pressure of the pipe. The conclusions obtained have certain reference value for the safety assessment of pipes with defects.
