With a view to investigating the relationship between the leakage rate of metal octagonal gasket sealing system and the bolt preload,both parallel disc model and the Roth model were studied,including the relationship between the sealing performance coefficient of some metal materials and the Brinell hard-ness,that among the sealing specific pressure and the leakage rate and the bolt preload,as well as the functional equation between the leakage rate of the octagonal gasket sealing system and the bolt preload to predict the bolt preload needed for the metal octagonal gasket sealing system so that the corresponding sealing degree level can be reached.Simulation calculations carried out verify accuracy of the theoretical formula to a certain extent.
