Effect of Silane Coupling Agent on the Water Resistance and Mechanical Properties of Expanded Flame Retardant Polypropylene
With polypropylene(PP)as the matrix,the halogen-free flame retardant PP material was obtained by adding the expanded halo-gen-free flame retardant FR-1420,changing the addition amount of the silane coupling agent yielded different halogen-free flame retardant PP sam-ples,the influence of the added amount of silane coupling agent on the flame retardant and mechanical properties of PP spline was investigated.The results show that the addition of flame retardant FR-1420 can significantly improve the flame retardant performance of PP,when the FR-1420 qual-ity score reaches 10%,material 3.2 mm spline can reach UL-94 V-0 level;Increase the mass fraction of flame retardant to 20%,material 1.6 mm spline can reach UL-94 V-0 level;The hydrophobic contact angle of the flame retardant is raised from 0° before surface coating to 123.24° after sur-face coating,place the flame retardant PP material in 85℃and 85%humidity for 240 h,no flame retardant has been precipitated to the surface of the material;And the surface coating of the silane coupling agent enhances the compatibility between the flame retardant and the PP material,im-proving the mechanical properties of the PP materials,and SEM shows,FR-1420 is compatible with the PP matrix,no interface is seen.Fouri-er transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)analysis showed that the surface of FR-1420 flame retardant was successfully modified to graft the silane coupling agent.
