On the Stages of Ecological Environment Evolution of the Grand Canal in China
The Grand Canal of China has been excavated for nearly 3,000 years, and it has gone through the process from a regional river connecting individual water systems to the north-south Grand Canal that connects the five major water systems of the Hai River,Yellow River,Huai River,Yangtze River, and Qiantang River, which has caused great ecological environment changes. How to sort out and summarize the process of ecological environment change in the Grand Canal of China requires us to divide it into stages based on certain standards for analysis.Based on the four key factors that should be focused on in the ecological environment evolution of the Grand Canal of China, this paper proposes that it can be divided into five stages:pre-Qin to Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern dynasties,Sui,Tang, and Song dynasties,Yuan,Ming, and Qing dynasties, modern times and contemporary times. It briefly summarizes the ecological environment characteristics of the Grand Canal of China during these five stages.
