Exploration of the "October Jiawu Edict of the First Year of Qin Er Shi" Bamboo Slips and the Causes of the Fall of the Qin Dynasty
A large number of bamboo slips were unearthed from Well No.9 at the Yiyang Tuzishan site in Hunan Province,totaling over 15,230 pieces.These slips span periods from the Warring States Chu,Qin,Zhang Chu,Western Han,Eastern Han,to the Three Kingdoms Sun Wu.The abundance of unearthed materials aids in further research on the political culture of the time and place.Notably,the bamboo slips containing the"Edict of the First Year of Qin Ershi,October Jiawu"offer new insights into the reasons for the fall of the Qin dynasty.After the death of Qin Shi Huang and the accession of Hu Hai as Qin Ershi,historical accounts,primarily critical,suggest that the Qin fell during Ershi's reign.The newly discovered edict from the first year of Qin Ershi Hu Hai is rich in content.When combined with other documents such as the Qin Taishan and Langya inscriptions and the bronze edict of Qin Ershi,it allows for a deeper exploration of the history since Hu Hai's accession and the reasons for the Qin's downfall.
