Distribution,Origin and Grammaticalization of the Agentive Marker"他"in the Dianfang Dialect
The Dianfang dialect of the Chinese language is spoken by Tujia people of Dianfang Township,Longshan County,Hunan Province.There is an agentive marker in the Dianfang dialect.It has the same form as the third person singular pronounn.This paper firstly analyzes the distributive characteristics of the agentive marker"他"synchronically,and then discusses its origin and grammaticaliztion process diachronically.Through comparative analysis with the agentive marker ko35 of Tujia language,a conclusion is drawn:The multifunctional equivalence between"他"in the Dianfang dialect and ko35 of Tujia is induced by the grammaticaliztion of"他"which duplicated the grammaticaliztion process of ko35 through language contact.
