Expression of SOX7,KLK13 and FHIT in patients with esophageal cancer and its value in prediction of postoperative recur-rence and metastasis
Objective:To explore the expression of sex determining region Y(SRY)box 7(SOX7),recombinant kallikrein 13(KLK13),and fragile histidine triad(FHIT)gene in tissues of patients with esophageal cancer,and to analyze its correlation with postoperative recurrence and metastasis.Methods:86 patients with esophageal cancer undergoing esophagectomy in a hospital from January 2022 to January 2023 were chosen as objectives,and were followed up for one year(5 cases missing in the follow-up).Ac-cording to the result of the follow-up,the patients were divided into a recurrence/metastasis group(n =31)and a non-recurrence/me-tastasis group(n =50).mRNA expressions of SOX7,KLK13 and FHIT in different tissues(cancer tissues vs paracancerous tissues),results and pathological parameters in cancer tissues of the patients with esophageal cancer were compared.ROC was drawn to analyze the predictive value of joint detection of different indicators on postoperative recurrence and metastasis of the patients with esophageal cancer.Results:The mRNA expressions of SOX7,KLK13 and FHIT in cancer tissues of the patients were remarkably lower than those in paracancerous tissues(P<0.05).The mRNA expressions of SOX7,KLK13 and FHIT in cancer tissues of the recurrence/metasta-sis group were remarkably lower than those in the non-recurrence/metastasis group(P<0.05).The mRNA expressions of SOX7,KLK13 and FHIT in cancer tissues of the moderately/well differentiated patients with esophageal cancer were higher than those in the poorly differentiated patients.The mRNA expressions of SOX7,KLK13 and FHIT in cancer tissues of stage Ⅲ of the esophageal cancer patients with lymphatic metastasis were lower than those of stage Ⅰ or Ⅱ patients without lymphatic metastasis(P<0.05).ROC analy-sis thowed that the mRNA expressions of SOX7,KLK13 and FHIT in cancer tissues in AUC to detect the postoperative recurrence and metastasis of the patients were respectively 0.793,0.829 and 0.776;the AUC in the joint detection of the three in prediction of the postoperative recurrence and metastasis of the patients was 0.909.Conclusion:The mRNA expressions of SOX7,KLK13 and FHIT in cancer tissues of patients with esophageal cancer decrease.Its expression level is influenced by tumor staging,degree of differentiation,lymphatic metastasis and postoperative recurrence and metastasis.Joint detection of postoperative recurrence and metastasis of esopha-geal cancer is of high effect,which can be taken as reference for the further diagnosis and treatment.
