The influence of normative misperception on residents'waste separation behavior
To alleviate the problem of garbage siege and promote residents'garbage sorting behavior,2 empirical studies are conducted to demonstrate the influence and mechanism of the norm illusion on garbage sorting behavior,as well as the path and variable of reducing the norm illusion. In study 1,it is found through a two-year longitudinal survey that residents generally have a norm illusion when it comes to garbage classification, they underestimate the participation of others in garbage classification, and the norm illusion negatively affects garbage classification behavior. In study 2,based on the information-motivation-behavioral skill model,a large sample survey(N =1043)was adopted, and the results showed that environmental knowledge played a partial mediating role between normative illusion and garbage sorting behavior.Classification propaganda information could reduce the illusion of norms and positively affect garbage classification behavior.
