The impact of ecological protection measures on carbon neutralization in the water source area of the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project——A case study of Nanyang
To study the impact of ecological protection measures adopted after water diversion of the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project on carbon neutrality in the water source area,Nanyang was taken as the research area, and relevant policies issued to ensure the operation of the project were sorted out.Carbon emission and carbon absorption calculation models were used to measure carbon emission and carbon absorption in the water source area respectively. The effects of policy-driven ecological protection actions on carbon emission reduction and carbon sequestration capacity of the water source area of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project were analyzed. The results showed that the carbon emission of Nanyang in 2014 as a node, the overall stage of the first increase and then decline, carbon absorption showed a significant upward trend. The carbon absorption of Nanyang was greater than the carbon emission, and the whole had reached the"carbon neutral"requirement.Ecological protection measures to ensure water transfer, such as water pollution control, energy conservation and emission reduction, soil erosion control, and forestry construction, promote the realization of the"double carbon"goal by increasing the carbon emission reduction and sequestration capacity of water source areas. The results of this study provide a reference for the implementation of dual carbon goals.
