Characteristics of ammonia nitrogen pollution in a typical river basin in western Guangdong Province based on PMF model
The characteristics of ammonia nitrogen pollution sources in Xiaodong River Basin of western Guangdong Province from 2021 to 2023 were studied by correlation analysis and positive matrix factorization model(PMF).The results showed that the temporal and spatial differences of ammonia nitrogen concentration in the Xiaodong River Basin were obvious. From 2021 to 2023,the time variation showed a"decrease year by year, with high spring and low autumn, and the peak value appears in April",and the variation along the course showed a"low upstream and high middle and lower downstream".Ammonia nitrogen was positively correlated with permanganate index, total nitrogen and electrical conductivity, and negatively correlated with dissolved oxygen. The ammonia nitrogen pollution in Shange came from livestock and poultry breeding sources and rural living sources, accounting for 86%and 14%respectively.The ammonia nitrogen pollution from urban living sources, livestock and poultry breeding sources and agricultural planting sources accounted for 80%,13%and 7%,respectively.In the Xiaodong River basin, targeted pollution control measures should be taken according to the differences in the contribution sources of ammonia nitrogen from upstream and downstream. The upstream should pay attention to strengthening the pollution control of livestock and poultry breeding to fill the gap in rural sewage treatment capacity, and the downstream should focus on strengthening the control of urban domestic pollution sources in Maoming urban area to improve the quality and efficiency of domestic sewage treatment system, and strengthen the prevention and control of livestock and poultry pollution and the control of non-point source pollution of agricultural planting. The results could provide basis and support for differentiated and refined decision-making in Xiaodong River Basin.
