Legislative Defects and Countermeasures of Biodiversity Protection in the Yangtze River Basin
Biodiversity conservation in the Yangtze River Basin plays an important role in the construction of ecological civilization in China. The launch of the Yangtze River Protection Law in 2020 is an effective means to protect the biodiversity in the Yangtze River Basin. However, the biodiversity in the Yangtze River basin is still under serious threat for various reasons.Empirical analysis and comparative research methods indicate an unremarkable concept of"biodiversity protection"in the existing laws, fragmented legislation and defects in the management of nature reserves.Drawing on the legislative measures of biodiversity conservation in the Tennessee River of the United States and the Amazon River of Brazil,we suggest to provide practical and effective legal guarantee for biodiversity protection in the Yangtze River Basin by promoting the unified legislation and innovating the management system.
