Correlation between Land Use and Bird Diversity in Key Wetlands in Southern Jiangsu Province
Studying the correlation between bird species diversity and land use status in different spatial ranges can better reveal the relationship between land use and bird richness.Combining field bird survey data with land use data obtained from remote sensing images,we explored landscape scales with high correlation with bird community characteristics. We identified sampling lines in 12 wetland protected areas in southern Jiangsu and collected data during 2022-2023.The species richness of various bird life forms along the survey lines was calculated, and buffer zones ranging from 0.8 km to 8 km(at 0.8 km intervals)were created along the survey lines to extract land use data.A multiple linear model was used to analyze the correlation between bird species richness and land type characteristics of the buffer zones. The results showed that;(1)There were significant seasonal differences in the total number of birds in the study area, while species richness showed few seasonal differences. As more as 31 species were observed in all 12 nature reserves.Low co-occurrence birds are more distributed in or adjacent to hilly and mountainous areas, and there are more species pairs in the Yangtze River wetland, plain river network wetland, and wetlands around Taihu Lake.(2)The multiple linear regression model has a relatively high interpretation rate in the range of 3.2 km to 8 km.When the interaction item was not added, significant correlation scales between land use characteristics and the richness of overall bird species, raptors, scansores, songbirds, terrestores, waders and waterfowls were identified at 5.6 km,5.6 km,8.0 km,1.6 km,7.2 km,3.2 km and 6.4 km,respectively. After the interaction item was added,it was 6.4 km,8.0 km,8.0 km,0.8 km,6.4 km,7.2 km and 5.6 km,respectively. The interaction between land types has a significant impact on bird species richness, and wetlands had a relatively prominent positive effect on bird species richness. There are some differences in the spatial scale of the largest correlation between the species richness of different life forms of birds and land use structure.
