Particle Size Distribution and Source Analysis of Water Soluble Cationic Components and Elements in PM10 in Winter of Northern Suburb of Nanjing
Sub-atmospheric size of continuous sampling PM10 for 24 h in the northem suburb of Nanjing,Jiangsu Province was done in Nov.26 to Dec.20,2009,features of water soluble cationic components and elements in PM10 were characterized by ion chromatography and its sources were analyzed. Results showed that Ca2+ was the major cation in PM10,accounting for about 50% of total cations in the course and fine particles, and higher during the day than at night.Local pollutant dust and weather conditions and other factors lead to higher Ca ions.PM10 and elements of various cations showed a bimodal distribution of particle size distribution, mainly distributed in fime particles, and higher during the day than at night.Factor analysis was used for source apportionment, and results indicated that main components of PM10 in northern suburb of Nanjing come from metal smelting and construction dust, which contribute 46.81% of cations and elements to PM10.Major components of PM2.1 are from metal smelting, secondary non-ferrous metal manufacturing and fuel dust, with metal fabrication contributing 46.81% to sources of PM2.1.
