Toxic Effects of Two Organic Pesticides on Eriocheir sinensis
In view of the deficiency in the criteria of surface water quality regarding pesticides toxicity in China,.two organic pesticides (chlorpyrifos and endosulfan)were selected to evaluate their toxic effects on Chinese mitten-handed crab (Eriocheir sinensis) by means of semi-static acute toxicity determination. In this study,TSK method was used to estimate 24 h and 48 h LC50 values with the related confidence interval of 95% of chlorpyrifos and endosulfan respectively to Eriocheir sinensis; and the Reed-Muench method was used to calculate the safe concentrations of chlorpyrifos (0.024 1 mg/L),and endosulfan (0.079 4 mg/L).In comparison with the criteria of acute toxicity classification for large crustaceans in the acute toxicity test, the study concluded that conchlorpyrifos and endosulfan were extremely toxic as far as to Eriocheir sinensis.
