Study on PM2.5 Concentration during Autumn and Winter Seasons in Ningbo City : Characteristics and Affecting Factors
The dynamic characters of PM2.5 mass concentration were analyzed using air quality monitoring and meteorology observation data. The correlations between PM2.5 and other affecting factors, e.g.gas pollutions and meteorology factors, were discussed.A stepwise regression model, thereafter, was built to reveal the impacts of those factors on PM2.5 concentrations. The results of the analysis showed that the mass concentration of PM2.5 in Ningbo was(100.66±72.98) μg/m3 during the study period, which exceeded that of particulates ranging from PM2.5 to PM10.Significant correlations existed between PM2.5 concentration and main air pollutants (NO2, SO4 and CO), of which CO was the highest correlated, and also a significant negative correlation between wind speed and PM2.5 concentration, a significant negative correlation between rainfall and the PM2.5 concentration;besides, PM2.5 was positively correlated with relative humidity, but negatively with sunshine duration. The results of stepwise regression showed that air pollutants and meteorology factors could explain 82.4% of the variations of PM2.5 concentration, among others, CO was the major contributor to PM2.5 concentration rising during the autumn and winter seasons in Ningbo.
