Study on Adsorption of Iodine in Aqueous Solution with Cladophora and Its Magnetic Hydrothermal Chars
The effective capture and recycling of radioactive iodine is of great significance for the treatment of wastewater from nuclear power plant accidents and medical facilities. In this study,a green adsorbent material,i.e.,magnetic Cladophora hydrothermal chars were successfully prepared with the biomass of Cladophora as raw materials, and which were character-ized the structure and morphology by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FI-IR),X-ray powder diffraction(XRD),and field emission scanning electron microscopy(SEM)before and after adsorbing iodine.Consequently,it was showed that both Cladophora biomass and magnetic Cladophora hydrothermal chars were good at iodine adsorption perfor-mance,the iodine adsorption capacity of Cladophora biomass was 593.82 mg/g,while the adsorption capacity of magnetic Cladophora hydrothermal chars was 307.10 mg/g.In addition, the magnetic Cladophora hydrothermal chars thus prepared showed a good magnetic recovery performance,so it is a low-cost environmentally friendly adsorbent for capturing iodine from aqueous solution.
